Le MOULIN DE PLANIOL is a 19th century restored water mill in a village called « le Vigan ». The mill is situated at the limit of the « Périgord » in a region called « Quercy ».
As is typical of the region, the mill has two towers (pigeoniers). The towers were originally built onto larger houses for welcoming nesting pigeons. The mill itself is built out of original local stone.
Surrounding the mills there are two gardens, one of which is typically English, which is very pleasant to relax in, plus there is a French garden, with a swimming pool (6 by 12) and a bbq
In the open plan kitchen, there is an old style oak beamed fireplace « le cantou » . Breakfast is served in this room on a long farmhouse table in a relaxed way with ourselves.
Evening meals are also served in this style to a set menu which is announced at breakfast for you to reserve for the evening if so desired.
There is a large recreation room which has TV., hi-fi, video, as well as various games and its also possible to have refreshments.
About ourselves
We are Kurt and Caroline who originated from Belgium. We speak Flemish, French, English and German. Our aim is to offer you a calm and tranquil home atmosphere for your holiday so that you can unwind gracefully.
I.e. : You can rest all the time, can eat regional meals and sample local wines in the surrounding area, visit local historical sites, or just sunbathe all day around the swimming
pool. Or you can do one or all the above mentioned, the options are plentiful upon how you feel

What to do
We are situated in a very rich region of gastronomy and history. Le Vigan is in the lot (dept. 46) which is adjacent to the Dordogne (dept. 24) and a wealth of history. Such as Figeac (60 km) which has an old town and an interesting promenade, Sarlat(25 km), Rocamadour (35 km), St-cirq-la-Popie (50 km), ...
Domme(18 km),Castelnaud, Beynac, Les Milandes ... (which are in the valley of the castel which were involved in the 100year war,
La Roque St-Christophe, Les Eyzies de Taynac, Lascaux, Le Pech Merle, Cougnac, ...all well documented for early cave paintings (made by prehistoric man), Padirac, La cave, Domme...make an interesting visit for the underground grottes which date back to the beginning of time. |
